Jingxuan Fan is an artist and freelance medium from China. Her artistic exploration did not begin with traditional academic paradigms, but is deeply rooted in her hometown of Henan, a land of historical silence and real political tension, and was catalyzed by a transcendental encounter with a bird - an experience that blurred the boundaries between species and self, and rather than endowing her with some kind of ‘ability’, it compulsively opened her mind to ‘mediation’. ‘Rather than giving her some kind of ‘ability’, it has obligingly initiated a continuous, almost ontological journey of enquiry into ‘mediation’ itself.
With this as a cornerstone, she tends to think about art with psychic intuition and sensitivity, seeing the present as a strange collection of fragments from the past and the future. Her practice spans multiple fields, with interests in political critique, philosophy of technology, spectroscopy (ethereology), and AI research. At the same time, she combines her own experience as a psychic medium with research in ‘anthropology of the senses (especially the olfactory part)’, exploring in-depth knowledge and perceptual dimensions that can only be accessed by communicating with the ‘unseen’ side of the world. knowledge and perception through communication with the ‘invisible’ side of the world.
She continues to explore the complex relationships between language, consciousness, the body and technology, with a particular focus on how these relationships are being recoded and redefined in the age of AI. She sees art as a means of intervention that seeks to give form to presences that have been suppressed and silenced by dominant narratives, rational orders or technological frameworks - whether they are the ghosts of history, inhuman consciousness, or marginalised sensory experiences - challenging our understanding of reality, subjectivity and coexistence.
In addition to her artistic creations, she continues to provide free spiritual services during her personal time, including but not limited to: healing, psychic and personal message interpretation.
