All Pure White Is Suspicious
 2025 performance

This work documents the process of generating an invisible monument.

In a completely enclosed space (box) made up of blue uniforms, I performed an action: to the best of my ability, I covered everything around me with white paint or material until I myself was consumed and reshaped by this white. Ultimately, it represents some form of breaking free or the termination of action.

In the specific political and cultural context of China, blue uniforms have been widely used to symbolize an ideal of equality that transcends class—blue workers, blue police, blue civil servants. However, beneath this promoted and uniform surface lies a complex reality of class differences and obscured truths. These are often concealed by layers of seemingly pure and flawless "white," which here becomes a metaphor for the universal narrative constructed by mainstream propaganda aimed at erasing differences.

Therefore, the monument generated through the act of "covering" inside the blue box does not exist in a visible, standing entity form. On the contrary, its "presence" is precisely defined by a continuous state of "absence" and "being covered." This generative process itself is a sustained questioning of the "visibility" dictated and imposed by power, while also attempting to awaken our perceptual ability towards those "invisible" realities that have been suppressed, forgotten, and erased.
